A classic car rally.
After a night in Torbole, we take the ferry down Lake Garda.
Trento is a fascinating city -- Roman, medieval, Renaissance, . . . It was very moving to stand in the Duomo where the Council of Trent was held.
We now proceed to Trento. This was our longest cycling day (43 miles), with bad wind and a little rain at the end.
We are now in the city of Bolzano, along a trade road used since Roman times. It's home to Otzi the Iceman.
We tour the spa town of Merano. This area was formerly part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and was ceded to Italy after the A-H E lost World War I. The area is nominally bilingual, but German is the dominant language.
A Romanesque church dating from the 7th century CE.
After a safety lecture and a review of the International Bicycle Tours (IBT) corner system, we head out. It's cold.
We transfer through Frankfurt and take a puddle-jumper to Innsbruck.
Business class in the upper deck. Amazing.
